Welcome to the Stormont Yacht Club (SYC) Home Page!!! We are located in beautiful Long Sault, Ontario, along the St. Lawrence River. The SYC is an active club with nearly hundreds of members and over 150 boats. The Stormont Yacht Club is proud to promote sailing and provides training to adults and children of the Three United Counties of Stormont, Dunas & Glengarry; and the surrounding areas. Where a Reciprocal Privileges Yacht Club, with welcoming smiles.

S.Y.C. is located at the end of Robin road in Long Sault, Ontario. It was established in 1958 during the construction of the seaway system. It's a self-help Club, owned and operated by its members.

Over the Crouse of the season, several events are held.

Annual Sail Past
Spring Series; Six races, held each Sunday beginning on the Victoria day weekend.
Annual Borland Manorial Race. A two-day race held on the first weekend in July. Day-one race to Chrysler Marina and stay over night. Day-two race back to Stormont Yacht Club; follow by a potluck supper.
Dinghy Race; held through out July and August.
Ladies Day Race; held on the Saturday of the Labor Day weekend. Followed by a fabulous dinner.
Fall Series; six races, held each Sunday beginning on the last weekend in August.

Basic Boat Training

Sailing Programs

BOOM Mobile Sailing School

August 9-13 - Beginner levels White Sail I and II
August 16-20, 23-27 - Intermediate levels; White Sail III and bronze sail IV (2week program)

This mobile sailing program is provided by the Ontario Sailing Association, and hosted by S.Y.C ( Stormont Yacht Club). The courses are offered to children aged 8-15, and accommodate young sailors at the beginner and intermediate levels. Instructors are certified by the Canadian Yachting Association (C.Y.A.) and will learn the CYA white sail levels. Sailing school is run daily from 9am to 4pm; Students must bring their own lunch. Other recommended items: hat, sunscreen, bathing suit, towel, and life jacket.

Stormont Sea Cadets

The Stormont Sea Cadet training center, located at SYC; is a recognized in sail and powerboat training, providing quality service and instruction for sea cadets to attain accredited levels in safe power and sail boating.

Stormont provides leadership, co-ordination and training to meet the needs of all Cadets by:
Encouraging participation in boating and sail training through quality instruction;

Promoting the sport of sailing and power-boating;
